Our Story
The Republic of Song (est. May, 2014) is dedicated to the creative process for pianists and singers. Consistent and informed practice produces dynamic progress, and the creative mind produces expressive nuance and deep satisfaction in performance.
The Vocal Boot Camp (est. May 2023) is designed to produce the highest achieving music theatre singers. Commitment to the practice methods and creative ideas presented in the Vocal Boot Camp will prepare students to be competitive in music theatre auditions for college auditions, NATS auditions, and Broadway auditions.
Natural giftedness and brain power cannot compare to well-designed practice in developing legendary skills. The Practice Like a Legend Seminars were developed to help students, parents, or anyone find the knowledge and habits necessary to succeed in any creative field.
Luciano Pavarotti, considered by many to be the greatest vocalist of the 20th Century, spent the first six months of his training on a grueling regimen of vocal exercises, more than an hour each day. Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, and many other top athletic performers have similar stories of rigorous PRACTICE. Efficient and creative practice is the key to musical success.
In the Vocal Boot Camp, students will be given a crash course in rigorous practice and methods of directing the creative process that will set the tone for long-term success. Vocal training programs with this approach are nearly non-existent outside of the highest level elite conservatories.
Limited spots for the summer 2024 Vocal Boot Camp are available.
The creative mind is the source of all musical development as well as the reason musicians consistently score higher on academic exams.

Bio: Jonathan
Since 1999, I have taught voice and piano from beginning to advanced level students including students at USC Upstate, Anderson University, and Clemson University.
Among current and former students are first place winners at the state, regional, and national level of the NATS auditions.
I’ve live in the Upstate of South Carolina with my three children. In 2017 I began applying the creative mind techniques from my vocal and piano studio to the creative arts of photography, poetry, and cooking.
