O mio babbino caro from Gianni Schicchi

Gianni Schicchi is a comedic one-act opera from the early twentieth century composed by Giacomo Puccini. The story follows the titular character, Gianni Schicchi, who is brought in to help the Donati family after their patriarch, Buoso Donati, passes away. The Donati family is desperate to find a way to keep the money and land that Buoso left behind. Gianni comes up with a plan to have him pose as Buoso and change his will so that the family can keep the money.

The opera is filled with comedic moments, as Gianni cleverly outwits the family and the notary. He is able to create a new will that benefits the Donati family, while also giving himself a piece of the inheritance. The opera ends with a lively celebration as the family rejoices in the fact that they have been able to keep Buoso's wealth. Despite the silly antics of Gianni Schicchi, the opera offers a moral lesson about the importance of justice and honesty.
